Another Fifteen Minutes

Like water dancing on heated iron
He taps off stage left

The applause is loud
And boisterous

To cries of bravo! and encore!
He reappears smiling

Spreads his mantle
Basks in the light

Devours the whistles and stomps
Bows like a marionette

Then retreats once more
Into the wings
